Democrat endorsed U.S. House candidate Elwin Tinklenberg also won the Independence Party endorsement yesterday. Both parties hope to gain more votes against incumbent Michelle Bachmann (R) in the 6th district. There was talk of former IP Governor Jesse Ventura throwing his beard beads into the ring for U.S. Senate, but delegates voted to endorse existing candidate Steven Williams. From the Pioneer Press: The possibility for no endorsement for Senate was on the ballot as well. Many delegates said they would consider holding out the endorsement in the event Ventura chose to run. They referred to Ventura as the "bison in the room." In the end, most delegates preferred to endorse a candidate of their own instead of waiting for Ventura. A wise move. Ventura shows he's more for the publicity than the responsibility of running for office. UPDATE: A search found this tidbit that Ventura was invited to the Chicago Green Party convention July 10-12. This party might be a better fit for him.
