Why
Advantage McCain PDF Print E-mail

Before the McCain / Obama debate Friday night I was concerned about one thing: the 1960 Kennedy / Nixon comparison. According to many, If you "watched" that debate, Kennedy won, if you "listened" to the debate, Nixon won. Those debates were the birth place of televisions impact, and the power of the media over presidential politics.

Fast forward 48 years, We have a democratic candidate for president who's nomination was delivered by one of the most liberally biased, agenda driven 'News media" machines of our time. Factor in the impact of the entertainment & social elites who jumped on the Obama band wagon, Now you have a momentum and bully pulpit only an author getting their book on Oprah could pray for. Watching these sycophants drul over Obama has literally made me laugh out loud on several occasions. Although, the one democrat not laughing today is Hillary. Talk about ironic.

So yes, shame on me, I was worried about Mc Cain's "media" presence, the aesthetic, not the substance. I am guilty of that for tactical reasons, McCain is famous for his temper and as admitted last night, Unlike Gov Palin, he has never won "miss congeniality", I also assumed the Obama camp would try and use this info to their advantage.

Two things were clear Friday night, First, McCain has clearly stepped up his game, He was a little stiff at first, but settled in and gave a very solid performance, He was direct, focused and genuine in his responses. Nor did he take the bait when Obama tried to get under his skin. Second, McCain was the more presidential of the two men. You can have all the coaching, rehearsing and TelePrompTer's in the world, it takes the man to show his character. McCain won on that front.

I must admit, Obama did better than I thought he would. No major gaffs or mistakes and he clearly established that he would be a big spending liberal, who never met a government program he didn't like. A new revelation last night is that Obama is clearly ready to bring back the Jimmy Carter foreign policy doctrine of surrender and appeasement. As was made clear by Obama's focus on our "standing" and "Image" on the world stage.

I have seen nothing thus far in this campaign that shows Obama was the best candidate the democrats could put up, but then again, when the media makes these decisions for your party, none of the leadership has to take the blame for putting a man in this election who clearly is not ready to be in the game yet.

Advantage.....McCAIN.
