A friend and I witnessed two teens ripping out and skateboarding away with a neighbor's McCain sign (including the rebar) on a late Friday night in Crystal. We yelled and told them we were calling the police. It didn't scare one teen, who later one returned and stole my (and several other neighbors') signs — all GOP candidates.
Later that weekend, a resident found several campaign signs tossed in a wooded area next to his home and brought them to SD-45 candidate Gregg Prest's home. He told Prest that the thefts infuriated him — then wrote a check out to the Prest campaign and signed up as a volunteer.
To those Democrats and their kids who steal signs, keep it up. You're helping our candidate!
PS: Once I figured out where one teen lived, neighbors and I filed a joint complaint. Police visited the family and we hope that the teen got the message. If not, maybe jail time and a fine will help. If your sign is vandalized or stolen, report it to the police.
